The Spark of Inspiration
One Desk, Two Dreams
This story begins at a single desk in a high school classroom.
Back then, Bin and Ming were deskmates. Bin was the dreamer, always filling the margins of his textbooks with doodles and design sketches, his mind buzzing with wild ideas. Ming, on the other hand, was the pragmatist, obsessed with code and logic, who could turn any complex problem into simple, elegant steps. They were strikingly different, yet perfectly complementary.
This friendship continued from high school through college and into their professional lives. Though they worked at different companies, they would always meet up after work, discussing the latest tech and venting about their daily frustrations.
One ordinary evening, Bin, working as a product manager, was struggling with a presentation for a new project. He needed a host of images and mockups to bring his vision to life, but as someone who couldn't draw a straight line, he was exhausted and frustrated by design software.
I have the perfect picture in my head, but I just can't create it! If only there was a tool that could just... understand what I'm thinking.
That casual complaint struck Ming, who had been deep in research on generative AI, like a bolt of lightning. He looked up, his eyes shining with excitement.
What if... a machine could literally see the picture in your head?
They talked late into the night, the dreamer and the doer, just like they were back at that high school desk. They decided they had to do something together—to turn this crazy idea into reality.

The very first version of imggen.org was born in the living room of our shared apartment. When the first image—generated from the text prompt a cyberpunk-style ancient general—appeared on the screen with stunning detail, we were as ecstatic as two kids. In that moment, we knew this was more than just a fun tool; it was the beginning of our shared dream.
We shared it with our friends and watched in awe as they created things we had never even imagined. That's when we realized we were building something truly valuable. So we took the leap, quit our jobs, and dedicated ourselves full-time to growing this small project into a platform that serves creators all over the world.
